About Muhammad Ibn Sa’d
Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Sa'd is one of the earliest authorities on Muslim biography.
He was born in 168AH in Basra, and died in 230 AH (845) at the age of 62. He moved to Baghdad where he studied under various people, specially Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi. He came to be known as the secretary of al-Waqidi because of his close connection to him.
He also visited Kufa and Madina in the course of his quest for Knowledge.

Authorities such as as Ibn Hajar, adh-Dhahabi, al-Khatib al-Baghdadi and Ibn Khallikan have testified to his reliability.
